The Bugo is on board with Bed Bug Awareness Week

The Bugo - the safe, cost efficient, easy to use, effective floor application that protects people from bed bugs - will be taking part in Bed Bug Awareness Week. Bed Bug Awareness Week is an international initiative set up by the Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA) and runs from 5th-11th June 2016.

“We’ve witnessed a significant resurgence in recent years,” said Cindy Mannes, executive director of PPMA, when talking about bed bugs. The PPMA is leading a push for public vigilance by devoting their social media pages to bed bugs during Bed Bug Awareness Week and using the hashtag #BedBugWeek in all of their interactions. The Bugo will be joining in too!

The Bugo is running a competition on their website  and another on their Facebook page to win a box of 12 wallets of The Bugos in either the hard or soft floor application.

Bed bugs (also known as Cimex lectularius) have undergone a worldwide resurgence in recent years. Bed bugs have been reported in every State in the USA and an estimated 1 out of 5 Americans either has had a bed bug infestation in their home or knows someone who has encountered them. A study in Australia performed in 2006 demonstrated an increase of infestation of 4,500% in the early years of the 21st century, and the UK has seen an increase of infestations hotels, hostels and homes in urban areas. Recent studies have attributed a global increase in bed bugs due to the rise in international travel and an increased resistance to pesticides.

There is no question about it… bed bugs are on the increase!

Bed bugs love to feed on human blood and when they bite, they don’t just do it once. Sometimes you can find a line or a random cluster of bites that can turn into itchy red bumps and rashes that last for days; some people may have allergic reactions or develop secondary skin infections from scratching the bites.

Other symptoms are psychological rather than physical manifestations, such as insomnia or sleeplessness, anxiety or increased nervousness, obsessive behaviour and personal dysfunction. Hotels, landlords and travel companies have been sued for bed bug infestations and there are also websites dedicated to people spotting bed bugs on their travels. 95% of Pest Control Professionals have found bed bugs in apartments, 93% in houses and 75% in hotels*.

The Bugo is a safe and simple to use adhesive device that lasts up to 8 weeks, is virtually invisible and acts as a barrier against bed bugs and as a detector to infestations – allowing you to protect you, your family and guests against these critters.

Just stick The Bugo on the floor around the bottom of the bed legs and reveal the sticky adhesive to prevent these unwanted crawling insects from getting to you, your mattress and sheets, or in any other crook and cranny’s in your bed.

Bed bugs live in homes, hotels, cinemas, caravans and offices. They are great hitchhikers and are well known to travel back in suitcases or clothes. The Bugo is designed to be used in any location, so use The Bugo home and away to detect or stop the spread of bed bugs.
